In the House of Legislates: June 15 1788: Resolved that Joseph Scott, Jr. an officer of the Virginia Line of Continental Establishment who has been disabled and wounded in the service of his country be ___ with pay for life beginning on the first day of January 1792 and that the auditors be directed to assess their warrants accordingly. Teste: J Berkley Amelia County June 8 1786: In obedience to a letter from his Excellency the Governor it is ordered to be certified that Major Joseph Scott and Archibald Compton are the only pensioners in this county on the pension list and that they are able to attend Richmond when required. A Copy: G. Holmes I do with the advice of Council certify that Joseph Scott aged about (no age given) years of age, late a Captain in the 1st Virginia Regiment was disabled in such a manner in the service of the United States as to entitle him to the sum of seventy two pounds yearly, commencing on the first day of January 1789.
