The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. http://www.usgwarchives.net *********************************************************************** Edgecombe Co North Carolina Record F Wills Book C 1785-1796 Page 37 Will of Thomas Booth Senior In the name of God, Amen, I Thomas Booth Senior of the County of Edgecombe being of sound and perfect memory, thanks be given to almighty God for the same, do make this my Last Will & Testament in manner and form following: To Wit first and principally I Recommend my Soul into the hand of God that gave it hoping thru the merits of my blessed Savior, Jesus Christ, to obtain full Remission of my Sins and my body to the Earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my Executors hereafter Named. First I will that my just Debts and funeral Expenses Shall be paid. Item I Give and bequeath to my Son John Ten pounds Current money of Virginia to be paid out of my Estate. Item. I give and bequeath to my Son James One Hundred and twenty five acres of the land I Now Live on to be Run off of the upper part, also one Negro Girl named Debs(?) To him and his Heirs forever, also one feather bed and furniture. Item I Give and bequeath to my son Benjamin the Land he now Lives upon Containing fifty acres More or less Lying on the South Side of Tar River, also one Negro man named dick to him and his Heirs forever also a bay horse called Norman. Item I give and bequeath to my son Robert my bay Mare also a Cow and Calf to him & his heirs. And my desire is that my Loving Wife should hold the plantation whereon I now Live & also my Negro man hamton and my Negro Girl Cloe also my gray horse also my black Mare and my Stock of Cattle and my Stock of hogs and my household furniture all but What is before given away and during her Natural Life and after her decease, I give and bequeath to my son Robert my plantation and Remainder of the Land supposed to be One Hundred & Twenty five acres more or less also one Entry of Land on Tar River supposed to be fifty acres more or less, also my negro man hamton to him & his heirs for ever. Item I give and bequeath to my Daughter hannah one Negro girl named Cloe and during her Natural life & to her heir or Heirs if she hath any of the Issue of her own body, if not my Will is that the said Cloe and her increase Shall be equally divided amongst James, Benjamin & Robert. Item I give and bequeath to my Daughter, Dorcus one negro boy named Mose and during her Natural life & to her heir or heirs if she hath any of the Issue of her own body, if not my will is that the said Mose shall be equally Divided between James, Benjamin & Robert. Also my will is that if John Mitchell discharges the bond that I passed to Coloniel Henry Irwin for the hirer of his negro man Jim for him then my will is that my daughter Dorcus shall share equally with James, Benjamin, Robert & my daughter Hannah, but if the said Mitchell doth not discharge that bond, without any costs to my Estate, then he nor his wife shall have no part nor claim in the remainder part of my estate that I leave to be divided equally amongst them, and my will is that my Estate be not brought to an appraisemen.
