And as to such Temporal Estate as it hath pleased God to Bless me with I Give and Dispose of the Same in manner and form as Followeth Item I Lend to my Loving Wife Martha Butler my Land and Plantation During her Natural Life and after her deced I Give and Bequeath the said Land to be equally Divided between my Nephews Josiah Drinkwater and George Ridley the said George to have his part on that part of Land joining Stock Creek to them and their Heirs forever. Item I Lend to my Loving wife Martha Butler after my Lawful Debts are paid the rest of my Estate during her natural life and after her Death I Give and Dispose of what shall be found in the manner following Item I Give and Bequeath to George Ridley three plates two Basons and my gun to him & his Heirs forever Item I Give and Bequeath to my Sister Sarah Drinkwater my large Iron Pot to her and her Heirs forever. Item I Give and Bequeath to Elizabeth Collin Anderson a Chest to her and her Heirs forever. Item I Give and Bequeath after my Wifes Death the Residue of my Estate not heretofore Given to be equally Divided between my three Nephews Price Butler Penel, Josiah Drinkwater and John Wingo to them & their Heirs forever. Item I Constitute and appoint my Loving Wife Martha Butler whole & Sole Executrix of this my last Will and Testament and I do hereby Revoke and make Void all Former Wills by me heretofore made and do Declare This to be my last & true Will in Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Affixed my Seal this fourth day of January One Thousand seven hundred fifty and nine. John Butler (Seal) Signed Sealed – Published & Declared to be the Last Will and Testament of John Butler in presence of us – Thomas Foster Francis Anderson At a Court held for Amelia County August the 25, 1759, This Will was proved by the Oaths of Francis Anderson and Thos Foster Witnesses thereto sworn to by Martha Butler the Executrix therein named and ordered to be Recorded and on the motion of the said Executrix who entered into & acknowledged Bond with Francis Anderson her Security as the Law Directed Certificate was granted her for obtaining a probate thereof in due form.
