Amelia Co., VA Will of Robert Cousens WB 2X P277-8 probated 27 apr 1769 Amelia County Virginia Will book 2X page 277/278/279 January 19 1997 In the Name of God amen I Robert Cousens of Amelia County and Parish of Raleigh being sick and weak of body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be given unto God do make and ordain this to be my last will and testament in manner and form following ----------- First I give Devise and bequeath to my son John Cousens to him and his heirs for ever Six hundred acres of Land be the same more or less being all that Town on the Upper Side of Middle Creek in the County of Amelia also one young mare of three years old ------ Also I give Devise & Bequeath to my son Robert Cousens to him and his heirs for ever the land and Plantation where I now live Containing three hundred acres be the same more or less --- Also I give Devise and bequeath to my son Peter Cousens to him and his heirs for ever one hundred and fifty four acres of land lying on the lower side of Main Celler Creek being part tract that Charles Williams dec'd formerly took up ------ my will and devise that the said land may be sold by my Ex'ors for the most that can be got for it and my son Peter Cousens to have One half the money that it sells for and my son John and Robert to have the other part my will and Devises is that if other sons children should die before they come to age that he or her part shall be equally devided amongst such of my children as shall be then living both Real and personal my will and desire that my Son John Cousens may have use of that negro he is now gone to bie and one negro man^name Dick Will my son Peter Cousens to age then my estate then my estate not yet given to be equally divided Between my beloved wife and all my children my will & desire is that my wife may have her first choice of two of my negros during her natural life or widowhood my will and desire is that my estate may not be apprised nor Inventoried Lastly I appoint my brother William Couses and son John Couses & son Robert Cousens Ex'ors of this my last will and Testament Signed and Seal'd in the presents of us September 12th 1760.
