Will of William Maynard, 1764/1765 - Amelia Co., Virginia In the name of God Amen I William Maynard of the Parish of Nottoway & County of Amelia being Sick and weak in Body but in perfect sence & memory Do make constitute and appoint this to be my Last Will & Testament revoking all other Wills heretofore made by me. Item. I resign my Soul to Almighty God who gave it and my Body to be decently buried at the Discretion of my Executors hereafter named and as for my worldly goods wherewith it hath Pleased God to bless me with I give & Bequeath in the manner and form following Viz, first I lend unto my beloved Wife Mary Maynard all my whole Estate Real and Personal during her Widow hood & after that my will and desire is that the whole Estate Real and Personal to be sold at Publick Auction and the money equally devided among all my children. Item I appoint John Maynard, my wife Mary Maynard & my Son Edward Maynard my Executors of this my Last Will & Testament. In Witness whereof I have heretofore set my hand and affixed my Seal this 21st. day of June In the year of our Lord God one thousand seven hundred sixty four. This Will was proved by the Oaths of Nathaniel Ford & John Bowles two of the Witnesses thereto sworn to by Mary & Edward Maynard two of the Exors. therein named & Ordered to be Recorded, and on the motion of the said Exors. who entered into and acknowledged Bond with Nathaniel Ford and John Allen their Security as the Law directs.
