In the name of God Amen. I Zachariah Morris of Amelia County son of Moses Morris being in a low state of health but in sound mind and memory as at other times do make this my last will and testament giving and bequeathing in the manner and form as followeth. Item. I lend to my loving wife Susanah Morris my whole estate be it in what manner of property during her widowhood for her reasonable support and to raise her children. But at her marriage or death for it to be equally divided between all my sons and daughters, To wit, William, Richard, Jane, Patsy, Polly, Zachariah, and Betsy, to them and their heirs forever and lastly constitute and appoint my wife Susanah Morris executrix and her brother James Owen executor to this my last will and testament in witness whereof I set my hand and fix my seal this twenty-eighth day of January one thousand eight hundred and four. Witnesses: Joel Morris, Moses Morris, Thomas Morris. Amelia County Court June 28th 1804, This the last will and testament of Zachariah Morris deceased was exhibited into court proved by the oaths of three of the witnesses thereto sworn to by James Owen and Susanah Morris the executor and Executrix therein named and order to be recorded. And on the motion of the said Owen and Susanah Morris who entered into and acknowledged bond in the penalty of 1500 dollars with William Burton, John Jeter and Moses Morris their securities certificate is granted them for obtaining probate in due form on the said estate. Submitted by Eileen Chamberland Will of Tabitha Morris dated 7 April 1795 Amelia Co., Virginia Will Book 7, p. 181 In the name of God Amen. I Tabitha Morriss of Amelia County do make this my last will. Item. I give to my son Thomas Morriss a negro named Dave to him and his heirs forever. Item. I give unto my son Claiborn Morriss a negro boy name Pleasant to him and his heirs forever. Item. I give unto my daughter Rodoshe Morriss a negro girl name Salley, a negroe girl name Chancy and their increase, also a track of land whereon I now live containing fifty acres and a bed and furniture to her and her heirs forever. Item. I give unto my daughter Polly Nunneley a negroe woman name Phillis, a negroe girl name Price and their increase also a Bed and furniture to her and her heirs forever. The residue of my estate be it in what manner of property soever I desire shall be equally divided between all my sons and daughters. I desire that all the negroes and other property above mentioned the land only excepted shall be praised and those that are found to have the most shall pay to the others so much as shall make every ones legacy equal. I desire all the Negroes shall be hired out till my debts is paid and then every one to have his legacy. Lastly, I appoint Zachariah Morris Jr. and my son Thos. I John Hendrick of Amelia County do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following. First, I will that all my just debts be paid out of my estate. Item. I lend to my loving wife Lucy Hendrick all my estate both real and personal during her natural life for her benefit and the support and maintenance of my children, and after her death it is my will and desire that the whole of my may be equally divided among all my children to them and their heirs forever. Lastly, I appoint my beloved wife Lucy Hendrick as my sole executrix and also appoint my two friends Joshua Chaffin and Anthony Webster advisors of this my last will and testament. Revoking all other will or wills and confirming this to be my last will and testament, in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affirmed my seal this 17th day of April 1804. John Hendrick. Submitted by Eileen Chamberland Will of Zachariah Morris dated 15 December 1807 Amelia Co., Virginia Will Book 7, p. 433 In the name of God Amen. I Zachariah Morris of Amelia County being in good health and sound mind thanks be to God for the same do make this my last will and testament, giving and bequeathing in the manner and form as followeth: I lend to my wife Sarah Morris my whole estate during her life or widowhood for her reasonable support but at her death or marriage to be equally divided among my sons and daughters, To wit Isaac, Zachariah, Joel and Edmund Morris and of my daughters, Betsy, Polly, Nancy, Sally, Rachal and Asenath to them and the heirs of their body for ever and it is my desire that my lands nor negroes shall not be sold without its by the consent of all the legatees and that my son Isaac shall have his part of land joining where he now lives but his not to be valued with the land and if the legatees cant agree between themselves to divide then let them choose such men as they shall see cause to divide for them and let every one have his lot and is allotted for them. But such lots as shall or may be lotted for my two daughters Betsy and Nancy I leave in the hands of my executors to let them have it as they may or shall see cause for their support and if there is any remaining in their hands at either of their deaths to be divided amongst their children. And lastly I constitute and appoint my three sons Isaac Morris, Zachariah Morris, and Joel Morris my executors of this my last will and testament in witness whereof I hereunto set my hand and fix my seal this fifteenth day of December one thousand eight hundred and seven. Witnesses: William Marten, Edward Farley, Polly Martin, Reuben Rucker. *****At a court held for Amelia County the 23rd day of February 1809 the last will and testament of Zachariah Morris was exhibited unto court and proved by the oaths of the witnesses subscribing the same and was ordered to be recorded. And at another court held for the said County the 22nd day of June following on the motion of Isaac Morris, one of the executors named in the said will who took the oath entered into and acknowledged bond in the penalty of nine thousand dollars with William Powell and John Chapin his securities, certificate is granted him for obtaining a probate of the said will in due form, liberty being reserved to the other executors to join in the probate when they may think proper. *****And at another court held for the said county the 23 August 1816 on the motion of Joel Morris one of the Exors named in the said will who took the oath by law prevailed and entered into and acknowledged bond with Allen Jeter and James Holt his securities in the penalty of $10,000 according to law certificate is granted him for obtaining a probate interest in due form. I Benjamin Hendrick of Amelia County being sick and weak of body and of sound mind and memory thanks be given to Almighty God for the same do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following, To Wit. First. It is [my] will and desire that all my just debts be punctually paid. Item. I give and bequeath unto my son Zachariah Hendrick one hundred acres of land being the land whereon he now lives beginning at Mr. Joshua Ruckus (sp?) line ... to him and his heirs forever. Item. I give and bequeath unto my son James Hendrick one hundred acres of land beginining .... Item. I lend to my beloved Anna Hendrick all the remainder of my land together with all my estate to wit negroes, horses, stock of all kinds, plantation utensils, household and kitchen furniture for the support of her and my three daughters and at her death it is my will and desire that all my land on the west side of the main road be equally divided between my three daughters Rebecah Hendrick, Rachel Hendrick and Tabitha Hendrick. Also it is my will and desire that the remainder of my land on the east side of the road to be sold by my executors and the money arising therefrom and all the rest of my estate after the death of my wife to be equally divided between my children Zachariah Hendrick, James Hendrick, Rebecah Hendrick, Rachel Hendrick, and Tabitha Hendrick to be to them and their heirs foreer. Lastly, I appoint my two friends Garland Hendrick and Paschal McGlaison with my two sons Zachariah Hendrick and James Hendrick executors of this my last will and testament. The last will and testament of Benjamin Hendrick deceased was exhibited into court and pr Submitted by Eileen Chamberland Page 512 Guardian Record of John Wingo Dated 16 July 1810 Amelia County Will Book No. 7, Page 512 Pursuant to the annexed order of Amelia Court we the undersigned have proceeded to settle the acct of John Wingo former guardian of Joshua Wingo, Letticia Wingo, Lucy Wingo, and Patrick Wingo, orphans of Churchill Wingo deceased and find due from the said guardian to Joshua, Letticia and Lucy the sum of twenty four pounds fifteen and 45 each with interest from the 28th day of December 1807 and to Patrick Wingo we find a balance due from said guardian the sum of twelve pounds fifteen shillings and 4 with interest from the 28th day of December 1807.
