Seaton Clk ***** ADMINISTRATORS' BOND: ESTATE OF JAMES ISON Administrators: Darkass Ison, Joseph Ballenger Amherst County, Va., Will Book 1, pp. 57-58 Date: 1 July 1765 Know all men by these presents, that we Darkass Ison and Joseph Ballenger are held and firmly bound to Daniel Burford Cornelius Thomas David Crawford and James Dillard Gent Justices of Amherst County now Sitting, in the sum of Two hundred pounds To the payment whereof well and truly be be made to the said Justices and their Successors, we bind ourselves, and each of us our and each of our heirs Executors and Administrators, jointly and Severally, firmly, by these presents, sealed with our Seals, this first day of July in the year of Our Lord One thousand Seven hundred and Sixty five and in the fifth year of the reign of our Sovereign Lord George the Third. The condition of this Obligation is such, that if the above bound Darkass Ison Administratrix of all the Goods, Chattels and Credits of James Ison deceased, do make or cause to be made, a true and perfect inventory of all and singular the Goods, Chattels and Credits of the said deceased, which have, or shall come to the hands, Possession or knowledge of her the said Darkass Ison or into the hands or Possession of any other person or persons, for her, and the same so made do exhibit or cause to be exhibited into the County Court of Amherst at such time as she shall be thereunto required by the said Court, and the same goods, Chattels, and Credits, and all other the goods Chattels and Credits of the said Deceased, at the time of his death which at any time after, shall come to the hands or Possession of the said Darkass Ison or into the hands or Possession of any other person or persons for her do well and truly administer according to Law, and further do make a just and true account of her Actings and doings therein when thereunto required by the said Court, and all the rest and residue of the said goods, Chattels and Credits which shall be found remaining upon the Said administrator account the same being first examined and allowed by the Justices of the Court for the time being, shall deliver and pay unto such person or Persons respectively as the said Justices by their Order or Judgment shall direct, pursuant to the laws in that Case made and provided, and if it shall hereafter appear, that any last Will and Testament was made by the said Deceased and the Executor or Executors therein named do exhibit the same unto the said Court, making request to have it allowed and proved Accordingly, if the said Darkass Ison being thereon to required, do render and deliver up her Letters of Administration; Then this Obligation to be void and of None Effect or else to remain in full force and Virtue. her Darkass (+) Ison Seal mark Joseph Ballenger Seal Sealed and Delivered in the presence of At a Court held for Amherst County at the Courthouse the first Day of July 1765.
