Amherst County; Will Book IV, page 317

Know all men by the presents, that we Reuben Pendleton, Moses Rucker & Richard 
Harrison are held and firmly bound unto Wm Harris, Josiah Ellis, Wm Warwick, 
Wm Loving & Wm B Hare [could be Ware] Gentlemen Justices of the Court of 
Amherst County, now Setting is the sum of five hundred pounds current money of 
Virginia to be paid to the said justices or their successors for the use of 
the said commonwealth, which payment well and truly to be made, we bind 
ourselves jointly and severally, our joint and several heirs firmly by these 
presents. Sealed with our seals, and dated this 17th day of June 1798.
The Condition of the above bound Reuben Pendleton is this day by the Court 
appointed Guardian to John Cox orphan of Archelous Cox deceased. Now if the 
said Reuben Pendleton shall well and truly save harmless and indemnify the 
said Justices and their successors in the aforesaid apponitment, and shall 
also in every respect discharge his duty as a Guardian aforesaid, then the 
above obligation to be void, or else to remain in full force and virtue.

This Bond was acknowledged in open Court by the subscribers and ordered to be
