All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: B Taylor jdt47@aol.com July 26, 2007, 1:25 pm Written: May 15, 1809 Recorded: July 1809 Amherst County; Deed Book L, pg. 246-248 Know all these men by these presents that I Valentine Cox of Bedford county for and in consideration of the natural love and affection which I bear to my grandchildren John Farnsworth, Samuel Farnsworth, Polly Farnsworth, James Farnsworth, William Farnsworth, and Edwin Farnsworth the children of Henry Farnsworth and Damaris Farnsworth his wife including their future increase (if any) as well as for the further consideration of one dollar to me in hand paid by George Tinsley of Amherst county and James Cox of Bedford county for and in behalf of my grandchildren the receipt whereof is hereby ask’d Have given and granted and by these presents do give and grant unto the said George Tinsley and James Cox as Trustees upon trust for my said grandchildren during their minority or non age one certain tract or parcel of Land containing sixty acres (by the same more or less) lying and being in the county of Amherst on the waters of Harrises creek and bounds as follows viz; by Sheltons road on the North west by Millers creek and Henry Gavsney’s line on the North east and by Martin Dawson and Richard Shelton on the South and west. Also two negroes viz; Lucy about twenty one years of age and Hannah about three years of age with her increase. Also one cow and one calf one (illegible) & pigs. Also the following articles of house hold and kitchen furniture viz; two walnut bedsteads two poplar bedsteads; one feather bed and furniture, one hair trunk and one red trunk one cotton wheel and one flax wheel one large iron pot and one small iron pot one small oven and a parcel of pewter one pine chest and one poplar table To have and to hold said land negroes stock and other property as above stated including the increase (if any) both of negroes & stock as trustee upon trust for my said grand children which said trustee shall tenant or rent out said land and hire out said negroes from year to year for the best price that can be obtained, or in such manner as in their judgement will best comfort with interest and advantage of said children and the monies arising from the rent of said Land and hire of said negroes with the increase of stock and the useful application of the diff. articles of furniture as above stated to be appropriated to the main. Of said children during their minority and when the youngest shall attain to lawful age then the said Land negroes stock and other property as above stated together with the surplus profits (if any) arising from the rents of said Land and hire of said negroes after defraying the necessary expenses of board clothing schooling shall be equally divided amongst s’d. children To have and to hold said Land negroes stock and other property to them and their heirs forever and I the said Valentine Cox for myself my heirs the said Land negroes stock and furniture as above stated unto the said George Tinsley and James Cox as trustee upon Trust for the said John Farnsworth, Sam’l Farnsworth, Polly Farnsworth, James Farnsworth, Wm Farnsworth and Edwin Farnsworth the children of Henry Farnsworth and Damaris his wife, including their future (if any) heir [or] heirs against the claim of all and every person or persons whatsoever shall warrant and forever defend by these presents. In witness whereof I have here-unto set my hand and affixed my seal this fifteenth day of May Eighteen hundred and nine.
