Date: 20 July 1780 Thomas Jefferson Esquire Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia to all whom these Presents shall come Greeting Know ye that in consideration of the Ancient Composition of Fifteen Shillings Sterling paid into the Treasury of this Commonwealth by Charles Ison there is granted by the said Commonwealth unto the said Charles Ison as assignee of Thomas Robertson a Certain tract or Parcel of Land Containing one hundred and twenty two Acres by survey bearing date the Seventeenth day of November One Thousand Seven hundred and seventy lying & being in the County of Amherst on the South branches of Pedlar River and Bounded as followeth, to wit, Beginning at a Chestnut Corner to Walter Power and Running thence with his line North Seventy One degrees West thirty four poles to a Hickory thence new Lines South fifty nine degrees West Sixty four Poles to a Chestnut Oak South thirty nine degrees West one hundred and three poles to a Chestnut South fifty five degrees East twenty nine poles to a white Oak and South Seventy one degrees East one hundred and forty seven poles to a Chestnut in Alexander Baggs line and with it North Six degrees East one hundred and forty poles to Pointers in Walter Powers Line and with them North Seventy one degrees West Twenty eight poles to Pointers at a Branch and North three degrees West twenty poles to the first Station with its appurtenances, to have and to hold the said Tract or Parcel of Land with its appurtenances to the said Charles Ison and his heirs forever In witness whereof the Said Thomas Jefferson Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia hath hereunto set his hand and Caused the Seal of the Said Commonwealth to be affixed at Richmond on the twentieth day of July in the year of our Lord one Thousand Seven Hundred and eighty and of the Commonwealth the fifth.
