Ison/Stephens Deed, 1791 Amherst County, Va., Deed Book G, p. 113 Grantor: Charles Ison Grantee: Frances Stephens Date: 26 Oct 1791 Proved (and Ordered to Lie for Further Proof): 18 June 1792 THIS INDENTURE made the twenty Sixth day of October in the year of Our Lord one thousand Seven hundred & ninety one Between Charles Ison of the County of Mercer of the one part and Frances Stephens of the County of Amherst of the other part, Witnesseth that the said Charles Ison for and in Consideration of Fifty pounds Current Money to him in hand paid at or before the Sealing & delivery of these presents hath bargained Sold aliened and confirmed and by these presents doth bargain Sell alien & confirm, a certain piece or parcel of Land lying and being in the County of Amherst and bounded in the following manner that is to say Beginning at a Chesnut corner to Walter Power and runing thence with his line North Seventy one degrees West thirty four poles to a hiccory thence new lines South fifty nine Degrees West Sixty four poles to a Chesnut Oak South thirty nine Degrees West one hundred and three poles to a Chesnut South fifty five Degrees East twenty nine poles to a white oak and South Seventy one Degrees East one hundred and forty Seven poles to a Chesnut in Alexander Bagg's line and with it North Six Degrees East one hundred and forty poles to pointers in Walter Power's line and with them North Seventy one Degrees West twenty eight poles to pointers at a branch and North three Degrees West twenty poles to the first Station with its appurtenances to have and to hold the Said Tract or parcel of Land with its appurtenances unto the said Frances Stephens his heirs and assigns forever which said piece or parcel of land containing by estimation one hundred and twenty two acres be the same more or less he the Said Charles Ison doth bargain sell and release together with all the profits advantages buildings and conveniences appurtaining thereto for the consideration aforesaid to him the Said Frances Stephens his heirs and assigns forever to have and to hold to him the Said Stephen and his heirs and assigns forever free from all Charges & incumberances whatsoever & moreover the said Charles Ison doth bind himself firmly by these presents and his heirs to warrant and defend the aforesaid piece of land contained in the premises to the Said Stephens & his heirs forever against all and every person or persons claiming the same under him the Said Stephens In witness whereof the said Charles Ison hath hereunto Set his hand and Seal the day and year firs above written.
