Deed Book C, page 215 7 Oct 1771 Between Joseph Richards and Mary, his wife, of the parish and county of Pitsylvania and Robert Mays of Amherst, for 25 pounds 200 acres on Stonehouse Creek in Amherst Co. 3 Aug 1778 Joseph Mays sells to his son James in Amherst Co. for 5 shillings 110 acres, part of a 200 acre tract deeded to Joseph Mays. Borders: North by Tye River Lines: James Edmonds, George Galaspie, Richard Tankersley, Joseph Dillard, Leonard Tarrant, John Mays, Sarah wife of Joseph. 3 Aug 1778 Joseph and Sarah Mays sell to John Mays, his son, of Amherst Co for 5 shillings 90 acres on north border of Tye. Part of 200 acre tract. 3 Aug 1778 Joseph and Sarah Mays sell 71 acres on north border of Tye for 5 shillings to James Walters, husband of Joseph's daughter Lydia. Granted by deed in Amherst Co. 7 June 1779 William Mays from Valentine Cox and John Swanson, 50 acres on the north branch of the Buffalo River and part of the Turkey Mountain for 37 pounds 10 shillings. Book E, page 148. 27 March 1780 Robert Mays of Amherst purchases 25 acres on Davis Creek, part of a tract of 45 acres granted by patent unto Angus Forbus on 10 Sept 1767, being the tract where John Tommerson of Bedford lately lived and purchased from said Forbus, for the sum of 100 pounds to John Tommerson. 15 June 1784 William Mays of Jefferson County appoints Samuel Meredith as his attorney to act on his behalf in regard to tracts of land lying in Jefferson Co. Book E, page 487. 20 Dec 1784 Joseph Mays Sr purchases 370 acres from John Shepherd of York Co on a branch of Juniper Creek. Pattened at Williamsburg in 1779. Also, Moses Mays and wife Lucy to Robert Mays for 500 pounds 192 acres on Tye River, part of tract of Joseph Sr, deceased. 19 Mar 1799 Ballenger Wade and wife, Sally, of Henry Co. to James Mays, son of Robert, for 30 pounds 170 acres on Stone House Creek, formerly granted to Pierce, father of Ballenger. 21 Oct 1799 James Mays and wife Creasy (Lucretia) to Hensley Carpenter for 45 pounds 170 acres on Stone House Creek. Tract granted to Pierce Wade, father of Lucretia, by patent on 20 Sep 1768. James is the son of Robert Mays; Hensley is the son-in-law, husband of Robert's daughter, Rhoda. 15 Oct 1801 James Mays (son of Robert) and wife Lucresy for 200 pounds 155 acres on north branches of Buffalo to Beverly Williamson. 18 Feb 1804 Robert Mays and wife Susannah, of Amherst, to Hensley Carpenters and Rhoda his wife, for and in consideration of the sum of one dollar but more especially for the love and good will we bear towards the said Hensley and Rhoda, 12 acres on Stonehouse Creek.
