Hall/Hyman Letter, 1890 - Amherst Co. VA & Loudon Co. VA EXTRACT COPY OF LETTER DATED 15 NOV 1890 FROM CHARLES HALL, BROTHER OF JAMES E. HALL, TO REV. SAM HYMAN Lynchburg Virginia November 15th 1890 My Dear Cousin .... Brother James has had sickness in his family & on last Saturday he lost one of his children, a little boy, a little over a year old. The little fellow had Pneumonia -- had been sick about three weeks, and we all thought that he was getting better but during the evening he was taken worse, and on Saturday Morn. he breathed his last. James & his wife take it very hard. It is the first one they have had taken from them .... I have not been able to get any information in referance to Grandfathers Estate I saw Ludwell Hall the other day. He says that he has often heard Grandfather speak of it. He says that Grandfather rec'd two letters in referance to the matter, informing him that the money had been left to him. Now those letters have been lost, of miss placed and we cannot find them .... Grandfather was a native of Loudon Co. and went from there to Franklin Co .... Grandfather was born in 1768 .... You asked me to try to find out some thing about Grand fathers estate in Amherst Co. All I can learn is that Wm. Barnes Bought out the interests of all the legetees or heirs and that your brother Willie claimed that you had given him the right to act for you in the matter ....
