BOND

Know all men by these presents that we Wm. Lyon & Samuel McAlexander are 
held & firmly bound unto James Monroe Esquire the Governor of Virginia for 
the time being and to his successors in office for the use of the said 
Commonwealth in the sum of one hundred & fifty Dollars to which payment well
& truly to be made we bind ourselves jointly and severally firmly by these 
presents. Sealed with our Seals & Dated this 27th day of Sept. 1802.

   The Condition of the above obligation is such that whereas there is a 
Marriage intended shortly to be held & solemnized between the above bound 
Wm. Lyon & Milley McAlexander now if there should be no legal cause to 
obstruct the said Marriage then the above obligation to be void or else to 
remain in full force & Virtue.

This day Saml. McAlexander made oath that the within named Wm. Lyon is 
upwards of 21 years of age.

Sir please to Issue Marriage license to William Lyon to be joined to my 
Daughter Milley In Marriage and for So Doing this shall be your Sufficient
