LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT OF JOHN HENDERSON, Amherst County, VA In the name of God Amen. I John Henderson of the County of Amherst being weak in body but of sound mind and memory thanks to almighty God for the same, do constitute and appoint this to be my last Will and Testament in manner and form following to wit, I commend my soul to Almighty God who gave it, and my body to the earth to be buried in a Christian manner at the discretion of my executors and exucutices herein after mentioned. Item my will and desire is that all my just debts be paid. Item I give to my son Robert Henderson and to his heirs and assigns forever, my following tracts of land Viz the remaining two hundred and fifteen acres of that conveyed to me by Samuel Woods and one hundred acres conveyed to me by Newberry Stocton and one other tract of ninety acres for which I have a patent in my own name for he paying the sum of Twenty pounds within two years after my decease at annual payments to my daughter Easter McLaine wife of Henry McLaine and the like sum of seventy pounds to my daughter Mary Small, wife of William Small which I give to my said daughter and to their heirs and assigns forever. Item I give to my son James two bonds Bonds amounting to thirty pounds given to me by Michael McMullin one for fifty dollars becoming due on or before the first day of April one thousand eight hundred and two and the other for the like sum of fifty dollars becoming due on or before the first day of April one thousand eight hundred and three, to him his heirs and assigns forever. Item I give to my loving wife Margaret Henderson the land and plantation whereon I now live during her natural life to be by her disposed of at discretion and the money to be laid out in the other land to be equally divided after her decease among my two sons Joseph and John with full power for her to make conveyance of the sale in the first place and division in the other land purchase in lieu to be equal both as to quantity and quality to them and their heirs and assigns forever. I also leave to my two sons Joseph and John and to their heirs and afsignd forever the nett proceeds of a land warrant containing nine hundred and thirty seven and three quarters of an acre now in possession of James Anderson to locate on vacant land on equal shares to be equally divided between my said sons both as to quantity and quality. Item Give to my daughter Sarah Dinwiddie wife of John Dinwiddie five shillings to her and her heirs forever and the like sum of five shillings to the heirs of my daughter Agnis Alexander des. (deceased) All the residue of my estate of whatever kind soever I give and devise to my loving wife Margaret Henderson to her at her disposal in such manner as she pleases. Lastly I appoint my loving wife Margaret Henderson my Executuix and my son Robert Henderson Executor of this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking all other Wills by me heretofore made acknowledging this only to be my last in witnesfs whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this fifth day of January one thousand eight hundred.
