The cemetery is located deep in the woods, adjacent to Henry Flood's "Old Home", or "Pleasant Retreat" as it was also called during the Civil War. The house was used briefly as headquarters for General James Longstreet, CSA, during the last battles of the Civil War at Appomattox. The cemetery itself is approximately one hundred feet square; surrounded by a four-foot high red brick wall and guarded by a double-gated wrought iron entry gate. There are 13 marked graves of our family members. There are also approximately 4-5 unmarked grave sites. This can be determined by the shallow depressions in the ground marking the location of older burials. The gravestones are in remarkable condition considering their age, however, the cemetery grounds are in need of extensive underbrush clearing. The following is a list of the gravesites starting with the oldest known burials: Henry Flood "of the Continental Army" Born in 1755 Died in 1827 "Blessed are the Merciful for they shall obtain mercy" Mary Walker "Wife of Henry Flood" Born in 1754 Died July 24, 1828 "Blessed are the good of heart for they shall see God" Dr. Joel Walker Flood Born July 11, 1799 Died April 19, 1858 "He rests from his labors and _______ follow him" Eliza Bolling West "Wife of Dr. J.
