Holland] Enumerators used booklets with pages marked A-D, repeating. Each page was numbered consecutively by the enumerators, 1, 2, 3, etc. In 1880 Appomattox was enumerated by Magisterial Districts (3) and enumeration Districts (6). Each page is filled in to indicate County, State, page #, Supervisor's District #, enumeration District #, Magisterial District, name of the enumerator and date of enumeration. The county was in supervisor's District No. 2 and enumeration Districts 6 - 11. Post Office data is not shown as in the 1870 census. Clover Hill, District 6 North of the Buckingham-Lynchburg Road Pages 1-35, sheets 314B through 331B, 1 June through 26 June 1880, Dwelling & Family 1-290 by Benjamin F. Sackett. Page 35, sheet 331B ends on line 30 and has signed certificate of completion. Hix. Page 55, sheet 359B has certificate of completion after the Poor House enumeration. Note that capitol L & S and capitol I & J are sometimes nearly impossible to distinguish when recorded as an initial. South Side, District 8 West of the Evergreen and Charlotte road via Wesley Chapel to Charlotte[County] line Pages 1- 52, Sheets 360B through 386A, 1 June through 28 June 1880, Dwelling 1- 321(Family 1-328) (additionally there are 8 unnumbered Dwelling/Families shown on page 51) by Samuel H. Note that new dwelling & family nos. were given in some cases where the relationship indicates otherwise. This ED has a lot of strike throughs, I have transcribed them and noted as strike throughs.
