Ellison Cemetery Location: In the suburb of East Waynesboro, Va., known as Winchester Heights. Augusta County All of the markers on the five Allen graves found in Winchester Heights, East Waynesboro, Virginia, have been destroyed with the exception of one. The illiteracy of the stone cutter is very evident on this sand stone marker. In tracing the former ownership of this property we find that the ground was first owned by Montague Allen then sold to Robert Allen, Sr., then sold to John Guthrie, then to H.L. Gallaher. Deed books show us that Robert Allen, Jr., son of the above mentioned Robert, conveyed to James Flack tracts of land adjoining Tees. On the only remaining marker, at the grave of Robert Allen, Sr., we find the following inscription: here. Lies. the. BO DY. OF. Robert AL Len. decessed. Oct. OBer. THe. 24 IN THe. 47 YeAR. OF. HIS. AGE. 1778.
