Herndon Cemetery Location: In a field about a quarter of a mile from Route #250 at Jennings, Virginia. Augusta County This is an interesting plot. It is surrounded by a cement wall, rounded and capped on top, and is full of wild rose bushes, trees and some boxwood. There is an ornamental, iron gate, which is padlocked, in the north side of the wall. There are only six graves here and all but one are flat covering stones. The one inscription not included in this write-up is of a victim of the War Between the States, who died of typhoid fever, at Barboursville, in 1861. The inscriptions are interesting and because of the heavy covering of vines and leaf mold, are remarkably clear. One grave contains the remains of an early immigrant from Ireland and the earliest burial date is 1833. The Mrs. Malvina Frazier listed was the wife of a nephew of her father and the young man who died of fever seems to have been her son. In Memory of Martha E. Wife of Wm. M.
