Herndon Cemetery Location: On the farm of Mr. Sam Ruckman of Staunton, about 14 miles north of Staunton, Virginia on Route #613 Augusta County This is an oblong plot surrounded by a low stone wall which in places has been breached and has fallen. Sheep and ground hogs have torn it up rather badly and many stones have been over turned and some reset. There are a number of river rocks and wooden markers too effaced to read but the remainder of the stones are of good quality and at one time this must have been a lovely place. There is a growth of young timber scattered throughout the plot and a few graves have enclosing iron fences. The earliest date here is 1852 and the only epitaph found has not been found elsewhere to date. Joseph Son of N. & E. Early Died May 11, 1852 Age 7 Months Jennie Lind daughter of W. & M.
