Herndon Cemetery Location: About 8 miles north of Staunton, Va., on Route #11 Augusta County There are a few old graves here but the cemetery contains the remains of the Civil War veterans and men prominent in the civic and political life of the county. This is a beautifully kept cemetery enclosed by an iron fence and landscaped. The original cemetery for this church lies across the road a short distance and will be described elsewhere as Old Augusta Cemetery. The church was organized in 1748 but the oldest grave in this plot is dated 1841. In Memory of Gilly S.
