George Rowland's deposition, Madison County, Kentucky, 13th January, 1806; brother of Robert, 18th September, 1801; was a few days before Robert's death. Robert Rowland had a powder mill and made powder on order. David, William and Jesse Rowland are about to leave this commonwealth, 10th January, 1811. This suit was founded on a contract by Gray to purchase 500 pounds of powder from Rowland, and it was charged that the powder was made and stored and subject to Gray's order for several years before Robert's death; a few days before Robert's death it was feloniously stolen and the impression was that it was in possession of the negroes at the negro insurrection in Richmond, about 1800. John Johnson vs. Samuel Wilson--Deposition of Ursula Estes before William Thomson and Jno. Downing, Justices of Louisa, 6th March, 1798, says about 1774-'75 she lived with Major Thos. Johnson, deceased, who gave her for her interest for her son John (the plaintiff), a slave, &c.; this slave was exchanged for another who had been the property of Thos. Johnson, deceased, son of the said Major. The plaintiff was aged 24 or 25. Ursula was mistress of Major Johnson and had many children by him. Major Johnson had a son Henry A. Johnson. Recorded in Cabell County, Va., 10th January, 1817. 2. 2d November, 1810--Phebe Larue, James Larue, Conrad Walters and Peggy, his wife, Squire Larue, George Helms and Rebeccah, his wife, of Harden County, Ky., to Edward McGinniss, all their interest 50 in a tract in Cabell County on water of Guyandotte, Ohio, and Big Sandy, granted to John Savage, 1754. Recorded in Harden County. 3. 23d February, 1809--Isaac Larue, Sr.; Isaac Larue, deceased and assignee of Isaac Larue; Peter Larue and Robert Hogden and Sarah; James Larue and Phebe, his wife; Squire Larue and Mary, his wife; Bernard Walters and Margaret; George Hellems and Rebecah, and Mary Harris, of Hardin County, Ky., to Edmund McGinness, 21,000 acres in Cabell County, granted by Dinwiddie's proclamation to Nathaniel Barrett, James Camax, Pat. Galloway, David Gasman and Hugh McCoy, &c., they being soldiers under Capt. John Savage, and sold by them to Isaac Larue, deceased, and part of 28,627 acres. 4. 26th October, 1810--Henry Clay, Jr., and Peggy, late Peggy Helm, of Boushare County, Ky., to Edmond McGinness. 5. Agreement between Isaac Larue, of Frederick County, and Nathaniel Barat, of same place, 29th October, 1770--Nathl. sells all his right; as a soldier, enlisted under Col. Stephen, then Captain. 6. 8th March, 1771--Magnus Tate, assignee of David Gorman and Patrick Galoway, who were soldiers of the campaign, 1754, under George Washington to Isaac Larue; all interest in 200,000 acres set apart by Dinwiddie's proclamation. 7. 5th November, 1770--Nathl. Barrett, of Frederick, soldier in 1754 under Col. Washington to Isaac Larue; all his interest as above. 8. William Graham purchased right of Hugh McCoy, Corporal soldier at battle of Great Meadows, 1754. 9. Will of Isaac Lerew in Frederick County: Wife Phebe; sons James and Jakey; daughter Elizabeth's son Abraham and her sons Isaac, Jacob and Lombard; dated 1st August, 1794; proved and recorded 3d September, 1795, in Superior Court for Frederick, Berkeley, Hampshire, Hardy, Shenandoah. Certificate, 23d November, 1803--Henry Bailey, of Albemarle, is eldest son of Henry Bailey (that is now living) and heir-at-law of sd. Henry, who, with his brother William, enlisted under Col. Fry and was with Col. Washington at the battle of Great Meadows, where William was killed. Henry was also in Braddock's defeat, where he was badly wounded, but escaped and lived, until his death, near his father.
