Deed Book 32, pages 165-166

Know all men by these presents that I William Alexander & Betsey Alexander my 
wife of the County of Augusta & state of Virginia do hereby nominate 
constitute & appoint our trusty friend Gabriel Alexander of said County to be 
our lawful attorney for us & in our names to sell & convey Their fifth part of 
one Hundred acres of land lying on both sides of Christians Creek in said 
County or to hold to his use or behoof as he the said Gabriel Alexander our 
lawful attorney may choose, he having paid us four pounds p. acre for our said 
part of the land.  In witness whereof we have hereunto set our hands & affixed 
our seals this first day of December one thousand eight hundred and two.

Augusta County to wit
Personally appeared before me one of the Commonwealths Justices of the peace 
for said County William Alexander & Betsey his wife & acknowledge the above 
Letter of Attorney to be their act & Deed.  Given under my hand this 1th [sic] 
day of December 1802.			Joseph Bell Jr.

At a Court held for Augusta County the 27th day of June 1803
This Letter of Attorney from William Alexander & Betsey his wife, to Gabriel 
Alexander was proved by the oaths of the witnesses thereto & ordered to be 
recorded.
