All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Linda Deppner http://www.rootsweb.com/~archreg/vols/00012.html#0002870 August 15, 2007, 1:01 am Written: July 17, 1806 Recorded: March 23, 1807 Augusta County, Virginia Deed Book 33, page 518 Know all men by these presents that we William Alexander & Elizabeth his wife of the County of Madison & State of Kentuckey do constitute nominate and appoint William Alexander of the County of Augusta and State of Virginia our true and lawfull attorney to sell and convey all our right title and claim to a Certain Tract of land containing two hundred acres Situate lying and being in the County of Augusta on the waters of Christeys Creek in State aforesaid, which Tract of land formerly belonged to Francis Alexander dec'd and we do hereby authorize our said attorney to sell and convey all our right title Interest & Claim to the aforesaid land premises and do also authorize our said attorney to appoint one or more in case of Inability to complete the aforesaid power of attorney and we do hereby ratify and confirm all our said attorney may do in makeing the aforesaid conveyance. In witness whereof we have hereunto set our hands and seals this seventeenth day of July 1806. William Alexander (Seal) Elizabeth Alexander (Seal) Madison Cty Sct. The above Power of attorney was acknowledged by William Alexander and Elizabeth Alexander his wife to be their act deed for the purposes therein mentioned before us two Justices of the Peace for said County. Given under our hands & seals July 7th [should be 17th?] 1806. Humphrey Jones Robert Porter State of Kentuckey and Madison County, Sct. I do hereby Certify that Humphrey Jones and Robert Porter are acting Magistrates in and for the County of Madison and that due faith and Credit ought to be Given to any Certificate by them attested. In testimony whereof I William Irvine as Clerk to the County Court aforesaid have hereunto set my hand and affixed this seal of the said County this 7th [should be 17th?] day of July 1806. Will. Irvine At a Court held for Augusta County March the 23rd 1807 This Letter of attorney from William Alexander and Elizabeth his wife to William Alexander was presented in Court and ordered to be recorded together with the certificate thereon endorsed.
