This Indenture made this 17th day of June 1794 between Wm. Gillaspy and Wm. 
Henderson of the County of Green, State of North Carolina by Robert Finely of 
Augusta County and State of Virginia their Attorney in fact of the one part 
and John Alexander of Augusta County of the other part Witnesseth that the 
said Wm. Gillaspy and Wm. Henderson by their Attorney aforesaid (who acts by 
virtue of a power of Attorney from the said Henderson and Gillaspy **** date 
the 1st day of September 1791 and now of Record in the County Court of 
Augusta) for and in consideration of the sum of five shillings to them in hand 
paid by the said John Alexander at or before the sealing and delivery of these 
presents the Receipt thereof is hereby acknowledged & for and in consideration 
of the sum of one hundred and fifty pounds to them in hand paid by Francis 
Alexander father of the said John in his life time and who directed by his 
last William [sic] and Testament that the said John Alexander should have one 
half of a certain Tract or Parcel of Land lying in Augusta County and 
containing two hundred acres of Land either adjoining Robert Russells Land or 
John Grahams land whichever he **** choose which is the same Land hereby 
intended to be conveyed and will hereafter be described the said John having 
made choice of that part agreeable to the said Will the said Henderson &c by 
their Attorney aforesaid have granted bargained and sold and by these presents 
do grant, bargain and sell unto the said John Alexander and his heirs or 
assigns one certain tract or parcel of Land lying in Augusta County on 
Christians Creek being one half of a certain tract of Land sold by said 
Henderson to Francis Alexander in his life time and bounded as followeth, 
Beginning at a white oak on a ridge corner to the original tract thence North 
eleven West to Christians Creek and down the same ninety eight poles to a 
sycamore at the mouth of a ditch South 80 degrees West 40 poles to a black oak 
saplin North thirty five degrees West 80 poles to a white oak and pine on the 
old line and with the same South thirty eight degrees West 95 poles to three 
white oaks on Russells line South sixty eight East 72 poles and South 3 
degrees East eighty six poles up and crossing sd. Creek to two sycamores on 
the bank South 67 degrees East 18 poles to two pines and North 23 East 64 
poles to the Beginning.  To have and To Hold the said tract of Land with all 
its appurtenances to the said John Alexander his heirs and Assigns forever to 
his only use and behoof & the said Wm. Henderson and William Gillaspy by their 
Attorney aforesaid for themselves their heirs, executors, administrators and 
Assigns do covenant with the said John Alexander his heirs and Assigns that 
they the said Henderson and Gillaspy their heirs, executors, adm'rs and 
Assigns the said tract of Land with all its appurtenances unto the said John 
Alexander his heirs and Assigns will forever warrant and defend.  In Witness 
whereof the said Henderson and Gillaspy by their Attorney aforesaid have 
hereunto subscribed their Names and affixed their seals the day and year first 
above written.

This Indenture of bargain and sale from Wm. Henderson and Wm. Gillaspie by 
Robert Finely their Attorney in fact to John Alexander was acknowledged by 
said Finely Attorney as aforesaid and ordered to be recorded.
