AUGUSTA COUNTY, VA - DEEDS - James Powel and Martha Ann Cocke to John Prosser & William Moncure, 3 Aug 1807 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- THIS INDENTURE made this third day of August in the year one thousand eight hundred and seven between James Powel Cocke and Martha Ann, his wife of Augusta County of the one part and John Prosser & William Moncure of the City of Richmond of the other part. WITNESSETH that whereas it is said by the said James P. Cocke and believed by the said Prosser & Moncure that the above named Martha Ann, formerly Martha Ann Lewis, is of right and in fee simple entitled to one undivided fifth part of all that lot or piece of ground on the main street in the city of Richmond, now in the occupation of William Cook, coppersmith. The extent in front of the said lot or piece of ground is the full length of the brick tenement, now standing thereon and runs back one hundred feet more or less and which piece of ground, on the upper side, is bounded by the grounds of George Winston, and on the lower side by the ground belonging to the estate of William Mitchell, dec'd, and on the back part is bounded by the ground of the estate of the aforementioned William Mitchell, deceased, but which said piece of ground is under a lease made to Smith Blakey, now deceased, for a term of twelve years commencing from the first of January one thousand eight hundred. . .
