Know ye that for divers good causes and considerations but more especially for and in Consideration of the sum of Twenty Shillings of good and lawful money for our use paid to our Receiver General of our Revenues in this our Colony and Dominion of Virginia We have given granted and confirmed and by these presents for us our heirs and pg. 140 Successors Do give grant and confirm unto Thomas Barnes one certain tract or parcel of land containing one hundred and sixty five Acres lying and being in the County of Augusta on the waters of Roanoke and bounded as followeth to wit, Beginning at three black Oaks and a white Oak Saplin in a line of "Campbell's old place & running thence North ten degrees West forty six Poles to two black Oaks and a white Oak North sixty eight Degrees West fourteen Poels to a white Oak in Campbell's entry and with said line North eighteen Degrees West forty Poles to two white Oaks on a ridge North seventy five Degrees East twenty eight Poles to two white Oaks North fifty Degrees East one hundred Poles to a black oak and hickory and two white Oak saplins North forty eight Degrees West one hundred and thirty six Poles to three black Oak saplins by the ___ North East ninety five Poles to a black Oak tree and two black oak saplins South eighty Degrees East fifty eight Poles to a black Oak and white Oak South fifty five Degrees East fifty eight Poles to three whites Oak Saplins by the road corner to his former survey and with the lines of the same South Thirty two degrees West seventy two Poles to two hickory Saplins South six Degrees West one hundred and ten Poles to two black Oaks South thirty seven Degrees East fifty Poles to two black Oak Saplins in Campbell's and with the same one hundred and forty three Poles to the Beginning With all &c.
