On the waters of the Roanoke Contributor: Judy Canant --------------------------------------------------------------------- George the third &c To all Ye Know ye that for divers good causes and considerations but more especially for and in consideration of good and lawful money for our use paid to our Receiver General of our Revenues in this our Colony of Dominion of Virginia We have given granted and confirmed and by these presents for us our heirs and successors Do give, grant and confirm unto James ROBINSON one certain Tract or parcel of Land containing eighty four acres lying and being in the County of Augusta on the waters of Roanoke and bounded as followeth, to wit, Beginning at a Poplar on the (spurt - may mean spur) of a Mountain (corner?) to the Land of Joseph ROBINSON and with his lines North sixty seven Degrees East forty Poles to two white oaks North twenty three Degrees West eighty Poles to two hickory Saplins corner to his Patent Land and with SNODGRASS lines North forty eight degrees West one hundred and four Poles crossing a branch to two hickory Saplins South Thirty Degrees West forty eight Poles to three black oak saplins by a branch under the mountain and along the same one hundred and ninety two Poles to the Beginning With all &c To have and hold &c To be held &c Yielding & paying $c Provided &c in Witness &c Witness our trusty and well beloved Norborne BAXTON as Botetourt our Lieutenant and Governor General of our said Colony and Dominion at Williamsburg under the seal of our said Colony the twelfth day of May one thousand seven hundred and seventy in the tenth year of our Reign.
