George the Third & c To All & c Know YE that for divers good Causes and
Considerations but more especially for an in consideration of the Sum of Three
pounds five shillings of good and Lawful money for our use paid to our reciever
General of our Revenues in this our Colony and Dominion of Virginia We have
given granted and Confirmed and by these presents for us our Heirs and
Successors Do give grant and Confirm unto Andrew Lewis one certain Tract or
parcel of Land containing six hundred and twenty five acres lying & being in
the County of Augusta on the North side of Roanoke and bounded as followeth, to
wit, Beginning at two black Oakes and a white Oak thence South twenty five
Degrees East one hundred and sixty eight Poles to a Hickory Saplin on the Bank
of the River, South seventy Degrees East twenty four Poles to a black Oak and
Hickory Saplin corner to James Neelly's Land and with his Line North twenty two
Degrees East forty four Poles to a black Oak thence leaving his line North nine
and an half Degrees East three hundred and eighty four poles to a pine on a
Ridge North fifty Degrees West one hundred & Thirty four Poles to a white Oak
in Carletons Line South West ten poles to a white Oak and black Oak & Pine ~
saplins North seventy Degrees West one hundred and forty eight Poles to a pine
on a Hill South thirty two Degrees West forty eight Poles to a black Oak in
John Bryans Line and with the same South twenty Degrees West forty eight Poles
crossing a Branch to his corner white Oak South seventy Degrees West one
hundred and sixty four poles to five white oak saplins in a Line of Burks Land
and with the same and the Line of banes old Tract south forty eight Degrees
East three hundred & sixty four Poles to the Beginning WITH ALL & C TO HAVE AND
HOLD & TO BE HELD & YEILDING AND PAYING & C PROVIDED & C IN WITNESSES & C
WITNESS our Trusty and beloved Francis Fauquier esqr. out Lieutenant Governor &
Commander in Chief of our said Colony & c Dominion at Williamsburgh under the
Seal of our said Colony the tenth day of September one thousand seven hundred
and sixty seven In the seventh year of our Reign.
