Soldier, 1st Virginia Regt.  (French And Indian War)
Augusta  County 
Buncombe Co Nc  1787-1806 

 I do, with the advice of council, hereby certify that John Burton,  aged  about 
46 years , late a private in the 1st Virginia Regiment in the year 1760, was 
disabled in service, by a wound in the back, and he is allowed  the sum of ten 
pounds yearly, to commence on the first day of January 1786.  Given under my 
hand as  Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, at Richmond  this 13th day of  
November 1786.

  I do with the advice of council hereby certify that John Burton is continued 
on the list of pensioners with his former allowance commencing on the first day 
of January one thousand seven hundred and ninety seven.  Given under my hand as 
Governor of the Commnonwealth of Virginia, at Richmond this 6th day of January
