They advertised in the Virginia Gazette published in Williamsburg, VA that they would survey this area of Southwest Virginia on February 20, 1753. ____________________ “As the Law obliges a Surveyor to give Notice in Writing, not only at the Court- Houfe of the County in which he refides, but alfo at the Court-Houfes of all other Counties in which any Perfons refide, who have Entries to be furveyed in his Diftrict; and as I have endeavoured to comply with the Law, as far as is practicable in that Point, fome Perfons, having Entries within the Diftrict, in which I purpofe to Furvey in the Spring, may, through fome Accident, not have receive’d fuch Notice: Therefore, to anfwer the Intent of the Law as effectually as may be, I now further make Ufe of the Gazette to convey Notice to all Perfons concerned, that I intend to be at William Armftrong’s, near the Great Lick, on Staunton River, in Augufta County, on the 20th Day of February next, in Order to Furvey Lands for any Perfons who have a Right to Furvey on the New River, or its Branches, above the Mouth of Blue-Ftone Creek, or between the New River and the Carolina Line.
