Obituary: Florence B. Desper, 12 Aug 1998 Source: The News Virginian Waynesboro, VA - August 14, 1998 Contributor: Oscar Nuckols ------------------------------------------------------------ STAUNTON -- Mrs. Florence Alberta Blackwell Desper, 86, widow of George R. Desper, of 1825 Vinson St., died Wednesday night (Aug. 12, 1998) at her residence. She was born April 15, 1912, in Rockbridge Baths, a daughter of William H. and Ida L. Coffey Blackwell. Mrs. Desper was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church. Her husband preceded her in death on Nov. 11, 1963. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Wilford D. Blackwell; and a sister, Martha H. Fletcher. Survivors include a son, Glenn R. Desper of Staunton; a daughter, Mrs. Jacob E. (Bonnie D.) Baker of Stuarts Draft; a brother, Grover William Blackwell of Lyndhurst; a sister, Ollie B. Botkin of Fishersville; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, and one step-great-grandson. A graveside service, will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday in Thornrose Cemetery by the Rev. W Albert Massey. Those desiring may call at the Henry Funeral Home.
