Obituary: Della Mae Conner Harris Source: Daily News Leader, 4 Oct 1991 Contributor: Wayne Coffey --------------------------------------------------- WAYNESBORO -- Della Mae Harris, 75, of 281 Elkins Circle, died Wednesday (Oct. 2, 1991) in the Waynesboro Community Hospital. She was born July 1, 1916 in Greenville, a daughter of Adolphus and Julia (Coffey) Connor. She was a member of Pines Chapel Presbyterian Church, where she had served as organist when she was a teenager. She had worked for Du Pont and Rockingham Poultry in Stuarts Draft for a number of years and was retired from the restaurant business. She is survived by her husband, Archie R. Harris; a daughter, Mrs. Herbert (Patsy) Gill of Vesuvius; one sister, Ada Doyle of Fairfax; and one brother, Elmer Connor of Philadelphia and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, David Thomas Weeks, one brother, Larnell Connor, and one sister, Edna Rowe. A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday in the Waynesboro Chapel of Etter Funeral Home by the Rev. A.V. Slagle. Burial will follow in the Riverview Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Sam Thompson, Charles Ramsey, Lyle Brooks, Finley Connor, Bruce Cash, Ricky Harvey and Lester Fitzgerald. Honorary pallbearers will be the doctors and nurses who took care of her.
