Obituary: GEORGE H. HARRIS, Nov 1968 Source: Waynesboro News Virginian - November 9, 1968 Contributor: Oscar Nuckols ----------------------------------------------------- George Hansford Harris, 77, Lyndhurst, died at the Waynesboro Community Hospital at 11:10 p.m. Saturday. He was born June 18, 1891 in Rockbridge County, a son of the late John Abraham and Mollie Coffey Harris. He was the last member of his immediate family. Mr. Harris was a Veteran of World War I and retired as a DuPont employee 15 years ago. He was a member of the Lyndhurst Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Gertrude L. Harris; two sons, Harry H. Harris of Carlisle, Pa. and George H. Harris Jr. of Stuarts Draft; four daughters, Mrs. Clyde (Hattie) Grimm and Mrs. David (Sylvia) Wiseman, both of Lyndhurst, Mrs. Edward (Elizabeth) Childress of Phoenix, and Mrs. Ray (Helen) Rexrode of Waynesboro; 26 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. A funeral service will be held in the memorial chapel of McDow- Tyree Funeral Home at 3 p.m. Tuesday, conducted by Rev. Silas Brydge. Interment will be in the Lyndhurst Methodist Church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Arvids Kucs, Joseph Gale, Chester Davis, J. K. Ellinger, Lawrence Critzer, and George Strickler. Honorary pallbearers will be George Roadcap, Nelson Thompson, T. O. Tench, David Patterson, Dr. Thomas Gorsuch, Harry Plummer, Raymond Lunsford, Robert Harris, Kermit Harris, Lawrence Brooks, Jerry Wade, James Robertson, Robert Lyons, Winfred Y. Grimm, and John Cooper.
