I Francis Long of the South River in the County of Augusta and Commonwealth of Virginia being of sound mind do make my Last Will and Testament in the manner following to wit, all my lawful just debts to be first paid Imprimis I devise to my nephew William Long son to David Long my tract of land lying on both sides of the South River containing one hundred acres adjoining the line of Morris Austin and Samuel Long, my smith tools and rifle gun, to be his and assigns forever &c I devise the land which came to me by descent from my Brother Doctor Alexander Long, to equally divided among my Brother David Long’s Daughters, to wit: Jane Long, Elizbeth Long, Dorcus Long, Rebecca Long, and ???? Alexander Long, to be theirs, their heirs and assigns forever, also the debt due me from John Hutcherson of Mason County, I devise to my [niece] Elizabeth Long daughter of David Long, to be hers, her heirs and assigns forever. I devise my Black woman named Jenny and her offspring, to my niece Alexander Long, Daughter of my Brother David Long, [to be hers,] her heirs and assigns forever, and to be treated with as much humanity as the nature of Slavery will admit of, if not She is to be emancipated. I devise my bed and furniture to my Brother Samuel Long. It is my will if Rachel and her offspring is obtained from Alexander Barnett of Kentucky. I allow my nephew William Long son to my Brother David, to be his, his heirs and assigns forever. The remainder of my estate, to be distributed at the discretion of my executors; it is also my will that my personal estate should not be appraised unless absolutely necessary for the payment of my debts. I do hereby name make, constitute and appoint my Brother Samuel Long, and my Nephew William Long Executors of this my last Will and Testament revoking all others. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 12th day of February 1810. Attested by Francis Long {Seal} Gabriel Alexander Joseph Bell At a Court held for Augusta County the 26th day of February 1810 This last Will and Testament of Francis Long dec’d was proved by the oaths of Gabriel Alexander and Joseph Bell, the witnesses thereto, and ordered to be recorded. And on the motion of Samuel Long and Wm Long the executors therein named who made oath according to law, and together with Joseph Bell, Gabriel Alexander and William Davis their securities entered into and acknowledged their bond in the penalty of four thousand Dollars & are delivered as the law directs certificate is granted them for obtaining a probat thereof in due form.
