The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. http://www.usgwarchives.net *********************************************************************** Will of Laurence Swink November 27, 1800 In The Name Of God Amen, I Laurence Swink of the County of Augusta & State of Virginia being Sick of body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be given unto God calling unto mind the mortality of my body & knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die, do make & ordain this my last will & testament. That is to say principally & first of all. I give & recommend my soul into the hands of the almighty god that gave it and my body I recommend to the earth, to be buried with Christian Burial at the discretion of my Executors Henry Swink & Mathias Swink nothing doubting but, at the General Resurrection. I shall receive the same again, by the power of the Almighty God. And as touching such worthy Estate as it hath pleased god to bless me with this life. I give, devise and dispose of in the same following manner & form. First, give & bequeath to my dearly Beloved wife Margaret Swink all my household furniture & goods also my Black mare and the best cow to have them her natural lifetime and to dispose of them as she pleases. Also I give & bequeath unto my two sons Henry Swink & Mathias Swink my plantation whereon I now live to be equally divided between them as they chose, and I do desire that Henry Swink & Mathias Swink do maintain my wife Margaret Swink while she lives also they are to pay all of my debts & receive all debts due or owing to me now. And as to my other property it is to be equally divided Between my three daughters Viz. Betsy Russell, Peggy Fix and Barbara Fix and likewise constitute make & ordain my wife Margaret Swink Executer in conjunction with Henry Swink and Mathias Swink of this my last wills & testament and to hereby utterly & disannul all & every other former testament wills and legacies & before named willed or bequeathed ratifying & confirming this & no other to be my last will & testament. In witness whereof. I have hereunto set my hand & seal this 27th day of November Eighteen hundred his Signed Sealed & published Laurence X Swink In presence of mark John Buchanan Wm Willson Jerab unreadable name At a court held for Augusta County on Monday the 22nd day of June 1801.This last will and testament of Laurence Swink was proved by the oaths of William Wilson and John Buchanan two of the witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded. And on the motion of Margaret Swink the execution, and Henry Swink and Mathias Swink the Executors thereon named who made oath according to the law and together with William Wilson and William Sheets their secure ties entered into and acknowledged their bond in the penalty of one thousand dollars conditioned as the law directs, Certificate is granted therefore obtaining a probate thereof in due force.
