Will of Halbert McClure - 23 March 1753 Source: Augusta Co., VA Will Bk. 2, Pg. 67-68 Contributor: Janet Randall mrandall@humboldt1.com -------------------------------------------------- In the name of God Amen The twenty third day of March in the year of our Lord 1753 I Halbert McClure of the colony of Virginia in the County of Augusta, Gentleman, being very sick and weak in body but of sound mind and memory thanks be given to God therefore and calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed For all men Once to Die do make and ordain this My Last will & Testament That is to say Principally and first of all I give and recommend my soul into the hand of God that gave it and for my Body I recommend it to the Earth to be buried in a Christian like and Decent manner at the discretion of my Executors Nothing Doubting but at the General Resurrection I will receive the same again by the mighty Power of God and as touching Such worldly estate whereof it hath Pleased God to Blefs me with this life I give discard and Dispose the same in the following manner and form it is my will and order that in the first place all my Just debts & Funeral Charges be paid and satisfied Item I give and bequeath unto Agnes my Dearly Beloved wife my plantation and her Breeding mares and her milk cows During her life time and all my Household plenishing to be Distributed at my beloved wifes decease together with my Plantation be sold at Publick _____ and I order that None bid for it but my own sons Item I give to Brother Johns son, Halbert to get twelve pounds and a Breeding mare of the estate and what remains of my Estate to be Divided Equally amongst my sons together with my household plenishing and Plantation and do order and constitute and ordain my well beloved Sons Alexander and Nathaniel McClure whom I likewise constitute make and ordain my only and Sole Exetors of this my Last will and Testament all and singular the lands Mefs__ and tenements to my sons and to their heirs and afsigns forever and do hereby Utterly Disavow Revoke and Disannul all and every other former Testaments Wills Legacies & Executors by me in any ways before thereto Named willed and Bequeathed Ratifying and Confirming this and no other to be my Last will & Testament In witnefs whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal the Day and year above written Halbert Mc[his"O"mark]Clure, Gent.
