Wood Cemetery Location: 12 miles south of Warm Springs, Virginia, on Route #603 Bath County OWNERS: (1937) T.M. Gathright, present owner. DESCRIPTION: This is a family cemetery and is in very good condition. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: The Bolars were among the first settlers on the lower Jackson River district. The property was granted to John Bolar, 1st, in 1741 or 42, then went to John, 2nd, then to his daughter, Mrs. William H. Rivercomb, then to George Rivercomb. The property never passed out of the family from 1741 or 42 until 1929, when T.M. Gathright bought the place. John Bolar, Sr. Died April 3, 1818 Aged about 85 yrs. Margaret Bolar Died Jan. 16, 1815 In the 90th year of her age Mary J. Bolar Died Jan. 12, 1849 Aged 24 yrs, 14 das. John W. Bolar Died June 24, 1846 Aged 26 yrs, 15 das. John Bolar, Sr. (2nd) Died Sept. 1, 1858 Aged 83 yrs 1 mo. 15 das. John A. Brown Son of J. and M. Brown Born May 20, 1835 Died April 21, 1859 Sarah A.A. Austin Died Jan. 12, 1849 Aged 24 yrs. 14 das. Margaret Brown Died Dec. 7, 1844 Aged 31 yrs. 8 mo. 6 das. Also her daughter Sarah Margaret Died May 15, 1845 Aged 11 mo. Ella Daughter of William H. and S.R.
