Wood Cemetery Location: 1 mile west of McClung, Virginia on Route #301. Turn south at Guy Hall’s home 7 miles to Bear Loop Hunt Club, Mill Creek road. 1 mile west to cleared field on hill. Bath County OWNERS: (1936) On Lowman’s Estate DESCRIPTION: This cemetery has a 4.5 foot stone wall 20 x 14 feet all around it. It has grown up inside and no markers. There are five graves inside of the stone wall and four with rock markers on the outside. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: This was known as Porters Mill Creek farm. Adam Porter settled on Porter’s Mill Creek shortly after the Revolution. He had three sons Robert, Reese, and Adams. There are no inscriptions we can make out. On the stone wall there is sign of something being carved there but it cannot be made out.
