Wood Cemetery Location: 13.5 miles south of Millboro Springs on Route #42, right side of highway near Peters barn. Bath County OWNERS: Originally owned by Surbers. Present owner is Joe Peters. (1936) DESCRIPTION: This is a small, private cemetery, fenced in with three foot concrete wall. It is known as the old Matthew Surber Cemetery. There are several unmarked graves of the Surbers in it. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: Inscriptions on tombstones: James H. Surber Born Jan. 24, 1827 Died Aug. 15, 1849 Age 22 yrs. 1 mo. & 22 days.
