Wood Cemetery Location: 3 miles south of Williamsville, Virginia on Route #269. Bath County OWNERS: Public cemetery DESCRIPTION: This is a public cemetery and is in very good condition. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: Thomas Wallace came from Delaware in 1781, purchased the upper half of the McCreery homestead, and died on it in 1799. His children were Matthew, David, Josiah, John, Benjamin, Joseph, Thomas, Polly and Nancy. This was originally the old Wallace burying ground. The Wallaces originally owned 3,500 acres of the land here. In later years when this land was sold off it was turned into a public cemetery.
