This Indenture made this fourth day of August one thousand eight hundred and four Between Hezekiah Stout of Harrison County and State of Virginia of the one part and Ezekiel Townsend of the County and State aforesaid of the other part then the said Hezekiah Stout hath granted bargained and sold and by these presents doth grant bargain and sel (sic-t) unto the said Ezekiel Townsend and his heirs and asigns (si-t) forever one certain tract or parcel of land containing forty two acres lying on Back Creek withn (sic) county of Bath and State of Virginia and bounded as followeth Viz. Beginning at a black oak on the West side of the Creek near a lick corner to Ephram Bates and with his line running thence South sixty five degrees East ninty two poles crossing the Creek to a Shugar (sic-t) and poplar on a hill North seventy two degrees East eight two poles to a spruce pine by the Creek ___ corner to Gregory North fifty six degrees West fifty eight poles crossing the Creek and bottom with Gregorys line to two Shugar (sic-t) trees in a draft thence South forth three degrees West ninety eight to the Beginning with its appertainences to have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land with its aportaineneces (sic-t) to the sd Ezekiel Townsend and his heirs forever to the only proper use and behoof him the sd Ezekiel Townsend and his heirs and assigns forever the said Hezekiah Stout for them his heirs executors administrators doth Covenant and agreed to and with the said Ezekiel Townsend his heirs and assigns by these preasonts (sic-t) that the said tract of land with the appertainance unto the sd Ezekiel Townsend his heirs or assigns from the claime (sic-t) or demand of them the said Hezekiah Stout or any other person or persons that warrant and forever defend by them these presonts (sic-t) In witness whereof the sd Hezekiah Stout hath hereunto set his hand and seal the day above written.
