Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia To all whom these presents shall come, Greetings: Know Ye, That in conformity with a survey, made on the twenty second day of May 1824 By virtue of a Land Office Treausury Warrant 1:7162 issued Dec 11, 1821 there is granted, by the Commonwealth, unto Amos Tharp... A certain Tract or Parcel of land, containing Eighty six acres situate in the County of Bath on both sides of the great Road leading from Staunton to the Warm Springs, adjoining a survey made for Abraham Lange and bounded as followith... As such, Beginning at two white oaks near a drain and near such road Hence N89 degrees E84 poles to two white Oak sapplings near said Road N66 degrees E60 poles to a pine on a hillside N25 degrees E75 poles to two White Oaks and Red Oak 55 degrees W14 poles to two White Oaks by said Road near Langes corner. Thence with his line N12degrees E28 poles crossing the Road to two white Oaks on said line.Thence leaving the same N71 degrees W 24 poles up a ridge, to a pine near the top of the same S45 degrees W 240 poles, crossing at several branches to three White Oaks and a Black Oak on the point of a ridge S55 degrees E66 poles crossing a branch twice the point of a ridge and said waggon road to the Beginning. TO HAVE AND TO HOLD the said Tract or Parcel of Land, with its appurtenances, to the said Amos Tharp and his heirs forever. In witness whereof the said James Pleasants Esq.
