Bedford County Virginia USGenWeb Archives Deeds Henry BUFORD & wife Mildred to Samuel GREENWOOD, 227 acres, deed, 1796 ----¤¤¤---- Henry Buford to Samuel Greenwood, June 24, 1796 Bedford County Virginia Grantees Deed Book 10, pp. 146-47 This Indenture made this twenty fourth day of June in the year of our Lord One thousand Seven hundred and ninety Six between Henry Buford & Mildred his Wife of the County of Bedford of the one part and Samuel Greenwood of the Same County of the other part Witnesseth that the said Henry Buford and Mildred his Wife hath for and in Consideration of the Sum of One hundred pound to them in hand paid by the said Samuel Greenwood the receipt of which they do hereby acknowledge have given granted bargained and Sold and by these presents doth give grant bargain & Sell Alien enfeoff and confirm to him the said Samuel Greenwood his heirs and assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of land Situate lying & being in the County of Bedford on the head Waters of the South fork of Goose Creek containing by Estamation (sic) Two hundred & twenty Seven Acres be the same more or less and bounded as followeth, Wit, Beginning at a pine thence a New Line North Seventeen degrees East One hundred and five poles to a- Pine on Tates line thence along the same North fifteen degrees West thirty four poles to a Chesnut Oak, thence New lines North fifty Six degrees West Seventy eight poles to ....... thence South Seventy five Degrees West One hundred poles to a pine, thence North Sixty degrees West thirty two poles to a pine, thence South Six degrees West One hundred and eighteen poles to a pine thence South Sixty nine degrees West forty poles to a red Oak thence South Seventy One degrees East one hundred and twenty eight poles to a red oak thence South Seventeen degrees East eighty four Poles to a pine thence North fifty Seven degrees East One hundred and fourteen poles to the Beginning. To have and to hold the said land and premises with all and singular the appurtenances thereunto belonging unto the said Samuel Greenwood his heirs and assigns forever and the said Henry Buford and Mildred his wife doth hereby convenant for themselves their heirs Executors Administrators or assigns that they will covenant and forever defend the said land and premises with all and Singular the the appurtenances unto the said Samuel Greenwood and to his heirs and assigns forever. In Witnesss whereof the said Henry Buford and Mildred his Wife doth hereby Set their hands and affix - their Seals the day and year first within written in the presence of - - Signed Sealed & acknowledged in the presence of Henry Buford (Seal) Milly Buford (Seal) At a Court held for Bedford County the 27th day of June 1796 This Indenture was acknowledged by Henry Buford and Milley his Wife parties there to - The said Milley having been first privily examined according to Law Voluntarily relinquished her right of Dower in and to the lands and premises conveyed in this Indenture which is Ordered to be recorded.
