Bedford County Virginia USGenWeb Archives Deeds Richard GREENWOOD & wife Katy to William GREENWOOD, deed, 1824 ----¤¤¤---- Between Richard and William Greenwood, March 28, 1824 Bedford County Virginia Grantors Deed Book 19, pages 120-121 This Indenture made and entered into this twenty eighth day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred & twenty four between Richard Greenwood & Katy his wife of Bedford County & state of Virginia of the one part and William Greenwood of Franklin County and state aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth: that the said Richard Greenwood & Katy his wife for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred and seventy five dollars to them in hand paid by the said William Greenwood at and before the ensealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof the said Richard Greenwood and Katy his wife doth hereby acknowledge they the said Richard Greenwood & Katy his wife have given, granted, bargained, sold and confirmed, and by these presents doth give, grant bargain and sell to the said William Greenwood his heirs, executors, adminis- trators and assigns, their entire right, title and interest in and to the whole of the lands of which Samuel Greenwood decd possessed lying part in Bedford County and part in Franklin County it being the part of which Richard Greenwood is entitled as one of the legatees of Samuel Greenwood Decd. To have and to hold to the said William Greenwood his heirs, executors and administrators, the hereby granted or intended to be hereby granted parcel of land, to the only proper use and behoof of him the said William Greenwood his heirs, executors, and administrators and the said Richard Greenwood & Katy his wife doth covenant & agree with the said William Greenwood his heirs, executors, and administrators forever, in manner & form following that is to say that the said Richard Greenwood & Katy his wife their heirs, executors, and administrators the aforesaid parcel of land to the said William Greenwood his heirs, executors administrators and assigns, against the claim or claims of all persons whatsoever shall and will forever defend by these presents. InWitness whereof the parties have hereunto set their hands and seals the day and year first above written. Richard Greenwood (seal) her Katy x Greenwood (seal) mark Bedford County to Wit: This day Katy Greenwood a party to the foregoing deed of conveyance personally appeared before us John H. Otey and Charles Whitely Justices of the Peace for said and having the deed fully explained to her acknowledged the same to be her act and deed and that she freely and voluntarily relinquishes her right of dower which she has or may have in and to the lands hereby conveyed and that she was willing the same should be recorded. This deed was certified as to Kathy Greenwood wife of Richard Greenwood by two Justices of the peace for said County and was to her admitted to record and afterwards ........
