All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************ Between William Greenwood and James and Lucy Siner, Sep 24, 1825 Bedford County Grantees Deed Book 19, page 273-274 This Indenture made and entered into this 24th day of September 1825, between James Siner and his wife Lucy of the County of Bedford and state of Virginia of the one part and William Greenwood of the County of Franklin and state of aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth: that for and in consideration of the sum of sixty dollars current money of the United States to them in hand paid by the said William Greenwood the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged by the said James Siner and his wife Lucy. Hath granted, bargained, sold and confirmed, and by these presents doth grant, bargain, sell, & confirm unto him the said William Greenwood his heirs and assigns forever all their interest in and to the landed estate of John Siner Deceased it being one fifth part of said landed estate estimated at one hundred acres be the same more or less, situate in the County aforesaid and lying upon the North side of Staunton river and joining the lands of Samuel Greenwood Decd. To have and to hold the aforesaid one fifth or mority of the aforesaid one hundred acres of land unto him the aforesaid William Greenwood his heirs and assigns forever. The aforesaid James Siner and his wife Lucy doth conve- nant for themselves, their heirs & that they will forever warrant and defend the right and title of the aforesaid Mority or interest in the aforesaid tract or parcel of land against the claims or demands of all persons or manner of persons whatsoever. In testimony whereof we have herunto set our hands and Seals the day and date first above written. James Siner (Seal) Lucy Siner (Seal) Bedford County to Witt: We William Shrewsbury and Matthew Pate Magistrates of said County do hereby certify that James Siner and Lucy his wife parties to the within conveyance have duly acknowledged the same before us on the 24th day of September 1825 and desired us to certify the said acknowledgement to the Clerke of the County Court of Bedford in order that the said conveyance may be recorded. We Witness our hands & Seals. Wm Shrewsbury (Seal) Matthew Pate (Seal) Bedford County to Witt: We William Shrewsbury and Matthew Pate Justices of the Peace in the County aforesaid in the state of Virginia do herby certify that Lucy Siner wife of James parties to a certain deed for the conveyance of real estate to William Greenwood bearing date the 24th day of Septemr 1825 and hereto annexed personally appeared before us in our County aforesaid and being examined by us privily and apart from her husband and having the deed aforesaid fully explained to her she the said Lucy Siner acknowledged the same to be her act and deed, and declared that she willingly Signed, Sealed and delivered the same and that she wished not to retract it. This Indenture of bargain and Sale between James Siner and Lucy his wife of the one part and William Greenwood of the other part was certified by two Justices of the Peace for said County and ordered to be recorded.
