All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************ Between William Greenwood and Matthew Pate Trustee for John Pate, July 20, 1828 Bedford County Grantees Deed Book 21, page 151-152 This Indenture made and entered into this 20th day of July 1828 between Mathew Pate Trustee &c for John Pate of the County of Bedford of the one part & William Greenwood of the County of Franklin of the other part. Witnesseth: that in conformity to a Trust deed bearing date 22nd day of March 1827 & duly recorded in the Clerks office of Bedford County the said Matthew Pate Trustee &c for &c in consideration of the sum of two hundred and two dollars & fifty cents current money of Virginia to him in hand paid the rect whereof is hereby acknowledged hath bargained and sold & by these presents doth bargain sell and confirm unto him the said William Greenwood one certain tract or parcel of Land, situate in the County aforesaid and Lying on the north side of Stanton river containing 135 acres be the same more or less & bounded as follows Viz: beginning at a white _ on the North side of Stanton river corner to the Lands of Samuel Greenwood decd , thence along his lines to his corner poast oak from thence along his line to his corner pine from thence along his line to his corner dead red oak [...?] corner to Jonathan James thence along his lines to Stanton river just below the cross rock thence down the said River as it meanders to the first station. To have and to hold the aforesaid tract of land together with all the priviledges and appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining & the said Matthew Pate trustee &c for himself his heirs &c the said said tract of 135 acres with all & Singular the premises and appurtenances before mentioned, unto the said William Greenwood his heirs and assigns, free from the claim or claims of him the said Matthew Pate, as trustee aforesaid or his Heirs, & of all and every person or persons claiming by and through him the said Matthew Pate as trustee aforesaid, shall, will & do warrant and forever defend by those presents. In witness whereof the said Matthew Pate Trustee &c hath hereunto set his hand and seal the day and year first above written.
