Otey, July 21, 1853 Bedford County Virginia Grantors Deed Book 36, page 196 This Deed made the 21st day of July in the year 1853 between William Gish of the one part and John M Otey of the other part. Whereas, by a decree of the circuit court of Bedford County made on the 14th day of April 1853 in a suit in chancery therein depending, between John M. Otey surviving partner of the late firm of Holcomb & Otey plantiff and William Muse adm of William Greenwood decd & other defendants, the said William Gish was appointed a commissioner to convey to the said John M Otey a certain tract of land of one hundred and thirty acres lying in Bedford County, Virginia, of which said William Greenwood decd seized & possessed & which had been purchased by said Otey of said Gish. Who by another & prior decree in the same suit had been appointed a commissioner to sell the said land With other therein specified. Now therefore This deed Witnesseth that in consideration of the premises & of one dollar in hand paid, the said William Gish doth grant & hereby conveys to the said John M Otey the said tract of land containing 130 acres, above described and for a further & more particular description of the same, reference is here made to the said chancery suit. And the said William Gish doth covenant to & with said John M Otey that he will warrant specially the property hereby conveyed.
