Dickinson/Carver Deed, 1848 - Bedford Co. VA Deed Book 34, Page 389 December 8, 1848 Clemming Dickinson and Mary Ann, his wife, to John H. Carver This Indenture made & entered into the 8th day of December 1848 between Clemming Dickinson and Mary Ann his wife of the first part and John H. Carver of the second part all of the County of Bedford state of Virginia witnessed that for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred twenty six dollars and fifty cents lawful money of Virginia therein have paid by the said John H. Carver at and before the sealing of the presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged they the said Clemming Dickinson and Mary A his wife have bargained and sold with the said John Carver their the said Clemming Dickinson and Mary A his wife interest right and title in and to a certain tract or lot of land in the division of the landed estate of Henry Huddleston and by these presents do sell grant and deliver unto the said John H. Carver his heirs and assigns all our interest right and title in and to the aforesaid lot of land with all appendages consisting of about sixty-six acres ___ the same more or less lying and being in the County of Bedford on the south side of Goose Creek adjoining the lands of Mrs. Ann Gray, Wm. Thornton, Henry Huddleston and John H. Carver. To have and hold the above tract or lot of land together with every appendage thereto attached or in any wise belonging to him the said John Carver his heirs assigns and the said Clemming Dickinson and Mary A. his wife as aforesaid for themselves their heirs to and will warrant and forever defend a good and lawful right in fee simple to him the said John H. Carver his heirs & against the just claim or claims of themselves and their heirs to suit against the claims of all other persons or persons whomsoever. Dickerson (SEAL) In Presence of Bedford County to wit We John Clayton and William Mead Justices of the Peace for the County aforesaid do hereby certify that Clemmings Dickinson party to a certain deed bearing date on the 8th day of December 1848 & heirs answered personally appeared before us and in our County aforesaid and acknowledged the said deed and desired us to certify his said acknowledgment wherein to the Clerk of the County Court of Bedford in order that they said deed may be recorded. Dickinson acknowledged the same to be her act and declared she had willingly signed sealed and delivered the same and wished not to retract it.
