Dickinson Heirs/Mills Deed, 1847 - Bedford Co. VA Deed Book 33, Page 418 This Indenture made and entered into this 4th day of December 1847 between Joseph Dickinson and Randolph Dickinson, Commissioners appointed under a decree of the County Court of Franklin and the Chancery Cause of Martha C. Dickinson against Joseph Dickinson and others to convey the right and title to the purchasers of the land belonging the heirs of Pleasant Dickinson deceased. Which was sold by Joseph D. Dickinson and Pleasant Dickinson Jr. decreased in his life time (as Commissioner for that purpose) under a device of the same Court in the same cause produced at the November Court 1848 of the one part and Mills Robertson of the County and Bedford and State of Virginia of the other part. Whereas the said Joseph Dickinson and Pleasant Dickinson (as Commissioner) died after advertising the house and place for sale for twenty days at the most public places in the neighborhood proceeded to sell the lands in the Bill and proceedings mentioned to the highest bidder at public auction on a credit of one and two years equal installments, the purchasers executing bonds with approved security, and whereas the said Mills Robertson became the purchaser of the tract lying on both sides of Goose, and Stoney Fork Creeks in Bedford County at the price of One thousand Dollars, which purchase money has been paid by the said Mills Robertson to Randolph Dickinson Receiver in the Case before report & as will appear by his report filed with the papers in said cause. This Indenture therefore witnessed that the said Joseph D. Dickenson and Randolph Dickenson as will for and in Consideration of the promises is one dollar in hand paid by the said Mills Robertson, hath granted, bargained and sold, and by these presents doth grant bargain and sell unto the said Mills Robertson his heirs and assigns the land aforesaid containing by and Survey two hundred and seventy acres ______ the ______ ______ on _________ and bounded by the lands of Pleasant Preston, __________ Christian and others, which land was by the last Will and Testament of Joseph Dickinson, deceased, bequeathed to the late Pleasant Dickerson and a small portion thereof (say) thirteen acres lying on the North side of Goose Creek to make the right & title was conveyed by proper deed to the aforesaid Pleasant Dickerson by the heirs of Joseph Dickinson deceased. To have and to hold the aforesaid tract or parcel of land together with the appendages thereto belonging as appendages to the said Mill Robertson his heirs and assigns forever and the said Joseph Dickerson and Rudolph Dickerson the tract of land and appendages against themselves their heirs and all other persons claiming or to claim by through or under them unto him the said Mills Robertson his heirs and assigns shall and will by these presents warrant and forever defend.
